Definition of Teaser Trailer

A teaser trailer is normally 30 seconds to 90 seconds in length and is generally released months, sometimes over a year before the film is, to give the audience a look at what the upcoming film will be like. They don’t necessarily tell the audience the narrative of the film, but just let them know that the film is coming out in the near future. The idea of a teaser trailer is to create an enigma for the audience so that they are keen to investigate, find out the outcome and therefore want to watch the film. You can view teaser trailers at the cinema, on the Internet and also on DVDs. The teaser trailers for upcoming films will normally be attached to films of the same genre in the cinema; this is because it will be getting the attention from their target audience.

  1. Good understanding Sheryl - I think you also need to focus on the idea that the teaser creates some kind of an enigma that the audience is keen to investigate.
